Carlo Lounge

If you're wandering around East Grinstead and craving something vibrant yet cozy, Carlo Lounge might just be your next go-to spot. Located conveniently at Unit E, Queens Walk, it’s the kind of place that balances laid-back brunch vibes with punchy evening cocktails. The first time I stepped into Carlo Lounge, it struck me how effortlessly it blends comfort, charm, and an eclectic menu.

Let’s talk food, because that’s what you're here for, right? Carlo Lounge has made a name for itself with its tapas, which are ideal for sharing (or not, I won’t judge). The Bang Bang Chicken-a zesty, spicy little number-is a personal favorite, packing just enough kick without going overboard. If you're into meatier mains, the Beef Brisket Chilli is rich, slow-cooked, and ridiculously satisfying, especially paired with their craft beer selection, which locals actually rave about.

For a lighter touch, the chicken ciabatta sandwich is loaded with flavor, nestled between crisp bread that doesn’t overpower. They also do a killer English Breakfast-properly hearty and available all day, which is a lifesaver for late risers or anyone in need of a post-night-out recovery meal. And yes, they serve a Vegan Breakfast too, so everyone’s covered. Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, the menu caters without feeling like an afterthought. That’s one thing I appreciate: dietary inclusivity here is real, not a checkbox.

Now, brunch fans-listen up. The Miami Brunch, served with grilled halloumi and hash browns, is possibly one of the best brunch plates I’ve had locally. It pairs beautifully with their Americano coffee, which, by the way, is rich and aromatic (they know their beans). Not a coffee drinker? They’ve got a tea selection that’s just as solid, plus Espresso Martinis if you're feeling fancy.

In terms of atmosphere, Carlo Lounge has mastered the art of being both family-friendly and solo-diner-approved. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite, working remotely with a laptop and latte, or meeting friends for a long chatty lunch, the space flexes to your mood. There’s outdoor seating when the UK weather behaves, and wheelchair-accessible seating that makes the layout genuinely inclusive-something a lot of places still don’t get quite right.

They don’t do delivery, but honestly, it's worth the walk-in. They offer takeaway if you're on the go, but the real magic happens when you sit down and soak in the quirky decor, the buzz of casual conversation, and the smell of something delicious making its way from the kitchen.

If you're looking to pair your meal with something stronger, their cocktail menu deserves its own spotlight. From refreshing spritzes to rich, boozy blends, Carlo Lounge delivers. And if you’re more into wine or cider, don’t worry-there’s plenty to choose from. Their wine list is curated to complement both the small plates and the heavier mains, which is a small but thoughtful detail.

What sets Carlo Lounge apart from other East Grinstead restaurants isn’t just the variety-it’s the consistency. Whether you’re digging into a messy burger and fries with cheese or picking at delicate Patatas Bravas, it all feels intentional. The staff are chilled but attentive, and there's a rhythm to the service that makes you feel like a regular-even if it's your first visit.

It's no wonder it’s popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner alike. Looking for late-night food that’s not your typical greasy takeaway? They’ve got that covered too. Their Triple Pancakes stack is deceptively indulgent, and their small plates menu works great for an after-hours snack.

At the end of the day (or the start of it), Carlo Lounge isn’t just a restaurant-it’s a vibe. With its broad appeal, thoughtful menu, and genuinely welcoming environment, it hits that rare sweet spot between casual and memorable.

Absolutely stunning! This place is like stepping into a dream. The eclectic decor, with its vibrant colors, unique lighting, and stunning artwork, creates an atmosphere that's both inviting and captivating. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal. Speaking of food, the cuisine is simply divine. Every dish is a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or a light bite, you won't be disappointed. And let's not forget the friendly and attentive staff who make you feel right at home. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, this is the place to be. You won't regret it! One of the best, if not the best place in EG!

I called to see if it was possible to have 30+ people turn up for evening drinks for my 30th. The team there were so accommodating and allowed us to set up decorations and have food etc if we wanted. The space was great because it was all open. I’d been before in the day for coffees but it was such a lovely atmosphere in the evening with the bar. Highly recommend if you want an evening drink and for gatherings!

What a great little place. Genuinely. Went there for a meal and a pub quiz and loved both. Plenty of selection on the menu, and the food was tasty and good value. Staff were friendly and engaging, though you have to order from the bar or a QR code, so be ready for that. Pub quiz was fun, despite my team coming second. There's always next time. Which I'll be looking forward to! Update 23rd April 2025: We won. Best restaurant ever! 6 Stars.

The design of this restaurant is a work of art! It’s very comfortable and tastefully designed. Love the way the chandeliers have been done, and the artwork on the walls is impressive. Lovely couches for coffee and chatting. Atmosphere is very pleasing. Low lighting also appreciated. The service was okay. Pleasant and friendly. Food came fast. I had an all day breakfast, slightly modified. It was not the best tasting breakfast, and I would not order it again. So food for this visit was disappointing. The menu is full of different dishes to try, so maybe better luck next time.

Great vegan burger! The decor is beautiful and the staff are lovely. And best of all, it is very dog friendly.
